Sandy's is another institution in Austin Burger joints, established in 1946. Part of that staying power is the cheap prices, the classic hamburger stand experience, and the frozen custard treats. Also, the owner was wise enough to sign a 99 year lease on the joint. Still, all of the charm, ambience and custard cannot make up for an unremarkable burger. Sysco patty on a Sysco bun with Sysco veggies and Sysco sauce. 4/10. Unscored bonus points for flavored cherry coke and Peter Gabriel.
