I've eaten at the south location a number of times, and the burgers are always good. Plus, the Terlingua is my favorite at this establishment -- what's better on a burger than a Frito pie? Nothing, that's what. Unless it's a second burger that's also topped with a Frito pie. Double-Frito all the way, so intense! It's chili all the way down! We've reached critical pie; the waveform is collapsing! ZOMG the zeitgeist!!! ZOOM AND ENHANCE!!
Ahem... sorry. I'm better now. This is usually at least a solid 9/10, and the Sea Salt and Caramel milkshake pushes it even higher.
When I vistied the north location last Saturday, though, I was not impressed. The burger was sloppy, poorly done, and the grind had a horrible mealy consistency. I ordered it medium-rare, which may have been a mistake. The center wasn't pink. It was pale, almost translucent. Ugh. Nasty. The chili was characteristically good (and the Fritos were predictably Frito-ey), but the burger itself was pretty bad. Even the milkshake wasn't great - the salt crystals were already dissolved so they didn't explode in a sweetness-magnifying burst of salty goodness like they usually do.
3/10
Hopdoddy, you can do so much better.
